As Summer has progressed I got side tracked by my history coursework which took up a lot of my time, however as that is a much more urgent deadline I think I have prioritised correctly, so I may not have done as much research for my EPQ as I have liked. I have been reading books and I've made an Alexander the Great presentation for history society so I can get a good overview of his life however I have yet to get down to the real gritty details.
The main problem I am having, which admittedly is one I have predicted, is the fact that secondary sources are plentiful but contemporary sources are much harder to get hold of. Libraries stock lots of books by modern historians but few by contemporaries! I need these contemporary sources to be able to get a view of Alexander's life which isn't affected by hindsight.
On one hand getting pictures of historical artefacts like statues etc. of Alexander is relatively simple with the internet, however contemporary written word is the issue. To solve this I could use the contemporary source quotes in the secondary books I have read, see if I can find them online.
Hopefully now it is my focus I should be able to come up with something soon.
